Belly Balloon – Non-Surgical
Are you struggling to lose weight, but diets and exercise aren’t enough? You’re not alone. Now there’s an answer – a simple non-surgical option and you don’t have to wait.
The gastric “belly” balloon has been offered in Europe for many years, and was recently approved by the FDA for use in the United States. In this procedure, a deflated silicone balloon is inserted into the stomach and then filled with sterile saline. The procedure takes less than 30 minutes in an outpatient setting. The balloon, which is inflated to about the size of a grapefruit, creates a sense of fullness and limits food intake.
After six months, the balloon is removed from the stomach. Patients agree to participate in a one-year behavior modification program in conjunction with the doctor to improve the long-term outcomes.

Most weight is lost in the first three months, but because the gastric balloon stays in for six months, you will learn the right amount of food to eat to maintain your new weight.Studies show that patients with the stomach balloon may lose three times the weight than those on diet and exercise programs alone.
Not everyone is eligible for this procedure, to learn more about eligibility and risks, speak with your bariatric surgeon. To make an appointment or learn more, call 800-258-2723, click here or fill out a contact form.
